In factories and harsh field environments, communication errors frequently occur due to noise or surges that travel in through communication lines from external sources, and the resulting electrical stress can put expensive equipment and facilities at risk of damage over time. SystemBase's BASSO-1010D2/ISO has built-in protection against noise and surges entering through the RS232 line, reducing the risk of equipment failure or damage and delivering the high performance and high reliability needed to maintain and operate critical facilities and equipment.
While all electrical and electronic devices require an external power supply to operate, BASSO-1010D2/ISO uses SystemBase's proprietary port power technology and a low-power design to generate its own operating power directly from the RS232 signal line. Optionally, pin 9 on the primary-side DB9 connector can also be used to supply power, offering users added convenience.
CMOS digital isolation is an isolation technique that offers a compact size, high isolation performance, and low power consumption, delivering superior reliability compared with conventional optical isolation methods. This feature electrically isolates the input and output signals, protecting the device from external noise or strong electrical disturbances caused by nearby motors, actuators, or other equipment. When communicating with expensive equipment, isolation provides a cost-effective way to protect that equipment, and BASSO-1010D2/ISO, built with this feature, delivers a longer service life and greater stability than conventional approaches.
Designed with the unpredictable conditions of industrial environments in mind, BASSO-1010D2/ISO incorporates multiple safeguards against electrical disturbances such as overvoltage entering through the RS232 port, along with high-reliability components, delivering both outstanding reliability and high performance.
