Wi-Fi HaLow is a wireless communication technology based on IEEE 802.11 ah, newly established by the Wi-Fi Alliance, and is a next-generation wireless LAN technology that can transmit data from various IoT devices over long distances. SystemBase rHaLow supports a wired LAN for configuration based on the IEEE 802.3 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet standard and is designed to solve communication issues between devices depending on the wireless communication environment. Shadow areas may occur due to terrain and obstacles such as various buildings in urban areas or trees in suburban areas, often resulting in failed communication connections even in nearby locations. In these usage environments, rHaLow supports a repeater function that eliminates shadow areas and extends communication distance.
IEEE 802.11 ah (Wi-Fi HaLow), approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance in 2016, is a WLAN technology that uses Sub 1GHz. The 2.4GHz ISM band used by conventional Wi-Fi and BLE has become increasingly congested due to various communication devices, resulting in reduced stability. To overcome these issues, Wi-Fi HaLow uses Sub 1GHz and overcomes the 100m communication distance limitation of conventional wireless communication technologies, enabling mid- to long-range communication of approximately 1 to 1.5km. With its low-power characteristics, it is a next-generation WLAN technology for IoT that offers excellent advantages for sensor networks and M2M communication networks powered by batteries and similar sources.
Remote devices connected through a Wi-Fi HaLow network can be easily communicated with, controlled, and monitored. Through Station Mode and Peer to Peer, data connected between HaLow devices can be transmitted, and the network can be configured and utilized according to the user’s on-site environment.
HaLow products support the advanced security protocol WPA2-PSK as standard for security. Designed with the characteristics of various sites in mind, rHaLow provides high device reliability through highly reliable components and design. In addition, the included HaLowConfig allows users to easily modify and apply product settings.
A utility program is provided for use with rHaLow.
