CS-428/9AT-ISO2 is a converter that converts RS232 signals to RS422/RS485 signals and RS422/RS485 signals to RS232 signals, while providing electrical isolation through digital isolation. RS232 communication distance is limited to 15m, but many field applications require communication over much longer distances. In such cases, RS422 or RS485 communication, which supports distances up to 1.2km, can be used. However, if the equipment itself is fixed to RS232, direct application can be difficult. By simply connecting CS-428/9AT-ISO2 to the RS232 port, this issue can be resolved easily without any additional software work.
CMOS digital isolation is a technology that provides compact size, high insulation performance, and low power consumption. It offers higher reliability than conventional optical isolation methods and electrically isolates input and output signals to protect equipment from external noise and strong electrical shocks caused by motors, actuators, and similar devices. In environments connected to expensive equipment, it provides excellent protection performance relative to cost, along with longer service life and improved stability.
CS-428/9AT-ISO2 provides an Auto Toggling function for RS422/RS485 communication. It prevents data collisions that may occur in RS422 multi-drop environments or RS485 networks. Since it is implemented at the hardware level, users only need to set the interface mode, and the device automatically maintains the optimal communication state.
In RS485 communication, Non-Echo mode is generally used and blocks reception during data transmission to prevent collisions. Echo mode, on the other hand, receives transmitted data back again to verify whether the transmission was completed properly. Users can select either mode depending on the operating environment to build a more stable communication system.
4-wire RS485 supports the same wiring and usage method as RS422 multi-drop mode. Since recent communication ICs provide both RS422 and RS485 functions, users can apply it to various industrial environments without any practical difference in use.
