CAN is a communication standard developed for transportation systems such as automobiles and for industrial applications, and is a highly reliable communication technology. SystemBase sCAN/all-FD is a high-performance converter that enables this CAN (CAN FD) to be used through serial communication (RS232/RS422/RS485).
sCAN/all-FD is an ALL-type model that supports RS232, RS422, and RS485, and it supports both Classical CAN and CAN FD, making it usable in any environment the user requires. In addition, it provides protection against external ESD and surge, and supports industrial temperature and humidity environments, making it a highly durable converter that can be used reliably even in environments vulnerable to electronic equipment, such as factories.
CAN has various features such as ID and priority communication, communication error detection, and filtering. Due to these features, it is widely used in vehicles, elevators, and other applications where human safety is a priority.
However, as the number of devices increased and the amount of data grew, situations arose where conventional CAN could not fully handle the requirements. CAN FD (Flexible Data Rate) was developed to overcome these limitations.
Compared to conventional CAN, CAN FD increases the data payload up to 64 bytes and improves communication speed by up to 8 times. SystemBase sCAN/all-FD is a high-performance converter that supports both CAN FD and CAN.
SystemBase sCAN/all-FD applies SystemBase’s newly developed ALL Transceiver SB300, allowing users to use any serial interface they require. It also ensures reliable operation in any environment through excellent protection functions and support for industrial temperature and humidity environments.
Communication errors occur in the field for various reasons. CAN has strengths in handling errors that occur during communication. For temporary errors, data is automatically processed, while continuous errors are automatically excluded before they cause issues across the entire line.
To improve such issues, users need to identify the number and types of errors. SystemBase sCAN/all-FD has a built-in mechanism to check errors that occur during communication, allowing it to be effectively used for troubleshooting.
In addition, sCAN/all-FD provides DAR (Disable Auto Retransmission), which prevents automatic retransmission when a transmission error occurs, reducing the load on the CAN communication network.
With the ABOR (Automatic Bus Off Recovery) function, bus-off conditions can be automatically recovered, enabling flexible use according to the user’s desired conditions.
