Multi-8/USB COMBO is a serial communication adapter that enables users to easily and quickly add serial communication ports to a system through the USB bus. It supports USB Full-Speed, serial communication speeds of up to 921.6Kbps, and is equipped with ±15kV surge protection to provide compatibility and stable operation.
The LED indicators showing serial communication status are useful for debugging and also complement the product’s refined design, providing a more satisfying user experience.
Multi-8/USB COMBO is used across a wide range of applications, including R&D, office automation, and factory automation. Through DIP switch settings on the rear side, users can easily select RS422 Point-to-Point mode and Multi-Drop mode, as well as RS485 Echo mode and Non-Echo mode. Terminal resistance can also be turned ON or OFF according to the communication line environment.
Multi-8/USB COMBO can supply +5V externally via pin 9 of the DB9 connector through a jumper setting, in place of the RI signal line. This approach, pioneered by SystemBase, makes it simple to power devices such as barcode readers directly from the adapter. Since a separate power adapter is not required, it helps reduce additional costs while providing a cleaner installation environment and significant maintenance benefits.
Multi-8/USB COMBO provides an Auto Toggling function for RS422/RS485 communication. This function helps prevent output signal collisions in RS485 networks and in RS422 multi-drop configurations.
Because this function is supported at the hardware level, users only need to set the interface mode with the switch, and the Auto Toggling function is automatically applied according to the selected interface mode.
Multi-8/USB COMBO includes a slew rate limiting function that helps suppress electromagnetic emissions during RS422/RS485 communication. When this function is enabled, the maximum communication speed is limited to 250Kbps.
This function helps prevent and reduce malfunctions in equipment used in environments sensitive to electromagnetic interference, such as hospitals and laboratories.
