Multi-1/LPCI is a serial communication card built around SB16C1052PCI, SystemBase's own high-performance semiconductor. The SB16C1052PCI is a PCI bus UART that integrates one of the largest transmit/receive FIFOs available, at 256 bytes, delivering stable, overrun-free communication even at speeds of up to 921.6Kbps.
It also includes a range of built-in functions essential for serial communication, achieving high reliability with a minimal component count and no need for additional circuitry. Multi-1/LPCI is available in RS232 and RS422/RS485 (COMBO) models, and can be used across a wide range of industrial applications, including office automation, factory automation, and instrumentation and control systems.
Multi-1/LPCI can supply +5V or +12V power to an external device through pin 9 of its DB9 connector. A jumper setting allows power output in place of the RI signal line, making it possible to power devices such as barcode readers without a separate power adapter, reducing installation costs and simplifying maintenance.
Multi-1/LPCI provides an Auto Toggling function for RS422 and RS485 communication. This feature prevents signal conflicts in multi-drop environments and can be enabled easily through either hardware or software settings, making installation and operation straightforward.
Multi-1/LPCI provides a Slew Rate Limiting function that suppresses electromagnetic emissions during RS422/RS485 communication. This helps prevent malfunctions that could otherwise occur in EMI-sensitive environments, such as medical equipment or research labs. When Slew Rate Limiting is enabled, the maximum communication speed is limited to 250Kbps, making it well suited for use in hospitals, research facilities, and similar settings.
