Multi-4C/LPCI is a serial communication card built around SB16C1052PCI, SystemBase's own high-performance semiconductor. The SB16C1052PCI is a PCI bus UART that integrates one of the largest transmit/receive FIFOs available, at 256 bytes, delivering overrun-free performance even at a communication speed of 921.6Kbps. It also includes a wide range of built-in functions required for serial communication, eliminating the need for additional components and enabling a highly reliable circuit design with fewer parts. Multi-4C/LPCI is available in two models supporting RS232 and RS422/RS485 (Combo) interfaces, making it suitable for a broad range of applications, including office automation and factory automation.
Through a jumper setting, Multi-4C/LPCI can supply +5V or +12V externally via pin 9 of its DB9 connector, in place of the RI signal line. This approach, pioneered by SystemBase, makes it simple to power devices such as barcode readers directly from the card. This eliminates the need for a separate power adapter, reducing additional cost while providing a cleaner installation and significant maintenance benefits.
