Multi-8/LPCIe is a serial communication card built around SB16C1058PCI, SystemBase's own high-performance semiconductor. The SB16C1058PCI is a PCI bus UART that integrates one of the largest transmit/receive FIFOs available, at 256 bytes, delivering overrun-free performance even at a communication speed of 921.6Kbps. It also has a range of built-in functions essential for serial communication, so no additional components are needed and the circuit can be built with a minimal parts count, resulting in high reliability. Multi-8/LPCIe is available in two models supporting RS232 and RS422/RS485 (Combo) interfaces, and is used across a wide range of applications, including office automation and factory automation.
Multi-8/LPCIe provides an Auto Toggling function for RS422/RS485 communication. This feature helps prevent electrical conflicts between output signals when configuring an RS422 multi-drop network or operating on an RS485 network. Since this feature is supported in both hardware and software, it can be enabled with a simple setting in the setup screen.
