The serial converter chip SB200 consists of an RS232 transceiver, two RS422/RS485 transceivers, and a port power extractor. The SB200 converter chip features a Port Powered function that allows it to extract power from the RS232 signal, enabling the conversion of RS232 signals to RS422/RS485 without the need for an external power source. This allows for an easy application of the RS232 to RS422/485 conversion solution without additional software changes or modifications to the existing system configuration. By converting RS232, which has distance limitations, to RS422/485, it overcomes these distance constraints and can be conveniently utilized in other system integrations. In addition to its powerful performance, various functions can be easily controlled through external switches, allowing for the straightforward application of several features that can be used in real-world environments, such as RS422, RS485 Non-Echo, RS485 Echo, and Termination On/Off.
SB200 is the ultimate one-chip serial converter solution that converts RS232 signals to RS422/RS485 signals, supporting communication speeds of up to 1Mbps. RS422/RS485 consists of one driver and one receiver, supporting both full-duplex (4-wire) and half-duplex (2-wire) communication.
