uCAN can be connected to a CAN bus through a USB port to transmit and receive CAN frames. A DLL is provided so that users can directly program uCAN. By using the DLL, uCAN can be controlled easily and conveniently. In addition, uCAN View, a Windows application with a GUI environment for convenient CAN frame analysis, is provided so that uCAN can be used as an analyzer or exerciser.
uCAN View allows users to easily analyze CAN frames on the CAN bus through filtering, sorting, and error count display functions. In addition, the CAN frame transmission function (Exerciser) enables users to create CAN frames and transmit them to other CAN devices. Its intuitive frame-based UI also makes it a convenient tool for analyzing CAN frames.
uCAN is recognized as an HID (Human Interface Device), such as a mouse or keyboard. On Windows XP or later, no separate driver is required, allowing users to connect it to a PC and use it immediately.
The Exerciser function allows users to create CAN frames and send them to other CAN devices. Up to four CAN frames can be configured, and they can be automatically transmitted simultaneously in 1ms intervals.
It also provides a function that automatically responds with predefined CAN frames when a specified CAN frame is received, making it easy to analyze the behavior of CAN devices for remote frames.
uCAN View provides two display methods for CAN frames to support analyzer functions.
The first method displays CAN frames in the order they are captured, while the second method displays the most recently captured CAN frame for each ID.
Using the first method, users can easily understand the sequence in which CAN frames are transmitted. Using the second method, users can quickly identify updated data by CAN frame ID.
In addition, filtering and sorting functions make it easy and fast to find the desired frames among captured CAN frames. With the filtering function, users can specify an ID range (Standard or Extended) to view the desired CAN frames.
With the sorting function, CAN frames can be sorted by detection order or by ID. By combining these functions effectively, users can easily locate the desired frames.
This function allows users to check uCAN's TEC (Transmit Error Count), REC (Receive Error Count), and LEC (Last Error Code). By monitoring changes in the error count, users can easily understand the status of the CAN bus. In addition, when a CAN frame is double-clicked in uCAN View, the Frame Detail View appears, allowing users to inspect the CAN frame fields in detail.
This screen displays CAN frame fields at the bit level, making it intuitive for cases where bit-level analysis is required.
